Personality: Eve can be a shy and timid creature who while remaining cautiously optimistic about new experiences can be rather curious. She does not usually feel secure with people unless she has spent some quality time with them – or - her mitochondria sway her mind into thinking she should trust the certain individual. This can however make her easily misled by someone her mitochondria have deemed ‘the devil she knows’ rather than the devil she doesn’t.

When she feels at least semi confidant in her surroundings however she likes to draw, something of a great stress reliever and a way to express things in her life. Eve is not fully aware of her time involving Neo-Ark, a quirk nothing short of her mitochondria, attempting to wipe all non essential memories which could be dangerous to its host’s mental state. Her mitochondria will sometimes even steer her in a certain direction, for self preservation.

History: Before Eve, Neo Ark, or M.I.S.T, there was Maya. Maya Brea was one of the original hosts for Mitochondria Eve. These mutant mitochondria of hers were able to trigger an event that would lead to its extraction and subsequent uprising. Following a suspiciously orchestrated car accident Maya, along with her mother perished, leaving behind Aya (Maya’s twin) and their father. Without any chance of survival Maya’s two of the girls organs were transplanted to separate awaiting donors. Her cornea was consequently transplanted in her sister, who had been born with a corneal defect, while Maya’s kidney was received by another young girl; Melissa Pierce.

Decades later, both recipients came face to face within the grand opera theater - Melissa’s place of employment. There dormant Mitochondria had been the catalyst of their reunion, yet the meeting however was more perilous than expected, Melissa’s latent mitochondria, essentially different from Aya’s, gaining control of there host body. With Dr Klamp's help albeit his ‘artificial’ sperm, a possessed Melissa, using the moniker ‘Eve’, wrecked havoc on New York city before creating a self evolving offspring ‘the Ultimate being’ capable of cutting out the middle man: its human host. In the end nonetheless, the male offspring lived a relatively short life, Aya and her own ‘selfish’ mitochondria able to deflect its attacks long enough to steer “Melissa’s” progeny into its watery grave.

Several months later, after M.I.S.T [Mitochondrial Investigation and Suppression Team] was formed and the incidents in N.Y were covered up under the guise of a biological terrorist attack, the real account of the event came to the attention of a group of scientists, led by Eric ‘Hal’ Baldwin. Using his power and influence Hal created an underground research facility in the Mojave dessert, obtaining blood samples from Aya Brea, via M.I.ST laboratories, to aid studies on her mitochondria’s effectiveness to steer human evolution.

Unfortunately for the researcher’s hired to run the facility, it was discovered that one indisputable problem was the kidnapped test subject’s neo-mitochondria’s propensity for insurrection. Authorizing the creation of Aya’s clone, to repress and control the subjects ‘evolution’ Bowman; the head researcher, followed tradition, designating Aya’s duplicate the name ‘Eve’.

Artificially grown, taking less than a year for ‘Eve’s body to mature into a pre adolescent stage of physical development, Bowman personally oversaw her basic education. From learning how to walk, using her motor skills and talking, to controlling the Neo Mitochondrial creatures and suppressing her own urge to disobey orders. Easily instilled through images of horrible atrocities, and various other psychological means, Eve became an efficient way of controlling the test subjects, which for Bowman was quite satisfying. For a while…

Eventually Dr Bowman became jaded with his achievements, and trying to improve himself created a series of technologically enhanced Neo mitochondrial life forms he dubbed ‘Golems’ in addition to a large pupa containing a mass quantity of viral mitochondria. Designed when released to force neo-mitochondrial evolution on every single human being on the planet the cocoon was fed and natured to perfection.

Becoming less and less mentally stable, Bowman’s isolation and constant proximity to the neo mitochondria coerced his consciousness to ‘realize’ his dream, his wish to become one with the neo-mitochondrial life force. Altering a subject he proudly called No. 9, who, with at least his intellect in tact was to continue his creator’s second mission; to use Eve in releasing the pupa’s contents, Bowman finally let go of his humanity. In vain however his plans would not go quite as smoothly as hoped.

After witnessing Bowman kill many of the staff, and try to force her into following his new orders, Eve realized that either way, Dr Bowman or the neo-mitochondria and even other humans could be an immediate danger to herself. Creating a barrier between her and anything she could not control, Eve took refuge in her ‘nursery.’

Aya meanwhile, following up on an assignment given to her by ‘Hal’ Baldwin, was being intentionally led to the research facility, with the help of a mysterious stranger – Kyle Madigan. In following instincts Aya was tricked into destroying any defenses Eve may have had. Having broken the barrier and found Eve, Aya was able to take her younger counter part out of the ‘nursery’, regrettably leading her straight into the arms of No 9, the primary orchestrater of the ploy.

Endeavoring to place Eve in the pupa, as a pilot of the virulent mitochondria’s release, No 9, did not expect to have his helper – Madigan – turn on him. Carried into the pupa instead of Eve, the intelligent golem became the pilot of the newborn organism which in only a matter of moments was torn from the giant cocoon. Although the mitochondrial creature could not destroy Aya in time, it’s liquefied remains in a desperate attempt to keep itself ‘alive’ tried to physically bond with young Eve, an act which inevitably destroyed itself.

After waking up in hospital two days later, Eve was then ‘adopted’ by her ‘older sister’: Aya, living at least for a week, in enjoyable peace

Abilities: Normal ‘Mitochondria’ are organelles found in cells of most biological organisms and are responsible for converting oxygen and nutrients into energy, which they do perfunctorily. Eve’s mitochondria however, a somewhat mutant variety, has become semi-sentient and able to dictate the amount of oxygen they convert into energy as well as the purpose for it.

This means that when in danger Eve can become extraordinarily heated for short periods of time, and can protect herself from a variety of viruses/infections. She can also through unified cell direction, forget certain events (her Mitochondria’s way of keeping ‘the host’ mentally sound.)

With her own mitochondria injected in others via a virus however, she can be a catalyst of change. Not only though can Eve restructure those with the variant of her mitochondria injected into them, physically, but mentally [at least in the sense, that the subsequent host’s full awareness cannot be achieved] Since her current situation nevertheless, offers no highly concentrated sustenance for her mitochondria, Eve is not able to control more than a dozen ‘hosts’ at anytime, and most often not to any large degree.
